With the year drawing to a close, Denver’s rental landscape is on the brink of a significant change. Our recent blog touched on this, and now, with a new email update from the City of Denver, we’re here to give you a detailed breakdown of new changes and additional resources.

What’s New from the City of Denver?

Starting January 1, 2024, it’s mandatory for all single-unit residential rental properties, such as single-family homes, in Denver to be licensed. Furthermore, any property with more than one unit that’s available for rent for 30 days or more should have either applied for or received a residential rental license by January 1.

This step is a part of Denver’s broader ambition to maintain a minimum standard for residential rental housing.

Easy Accessibility for Landlords:

Denver is not just setting regulations but also ensuring landlords have ample support and resources. The city is hosting free Q&A sessions in the coming months for clarity on this new mandate. Moreover, both virtual (via Microsoft Teams) and in-person meetings are available for those who prefer a more personal touch.

For those who can’t make it to the in-person sessions, virtual slots are open Mondays to Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. And if you’re near downtown, stop by the office at 201 W. Colfax Ave., Department 206, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Schedule your preferred slot on the official website.

Spreading the Word:

The City is urging everyone to share this crucial update with rental property owners and managers. It’s essential to sign up for the residential rental property informational bulletin to stay updated on this front.
